Thermo Auricular Therapy - Ear Candling

DURING TREATMENT

You will remain fully clothed but may wish to remove jewellery or loosen tight clothing. Whilst lying on your side your head will be supported on a pillow so that the auditory canal is vertical.

When the candle is burning, a light suction action is created, and the movement of the flame creates a vibration of air in the candle, which generates a massage-like effect on the eardrum. This generates a ‘crackling’ sound. This is a pleasant feeling, and helps to balance the pressure in the ears, forehead and sinuses. There is mild heat felt in the ear, which stimulates the blood and lymphatic circulation. This boosts the immune system and the body's natural cleansing action.

Following the Hopi Ear Candle treatment, a relaxing facial massage is offered which aids relaxation and sinus clearing.

Please note: Ear candles do not draw hard and compact ear wax up and into the ear candle ear. Ear candles may pull a small amount of loose or flaky earwax or dead skin cells from the very external part of the ear, but the residue that remains in the candle after treatment is actually beeswax and honey that has not burnt away completely.

WHEN NOT TO USE

Most people can benefit from Thermo-Auricular Therapy however there are certain conditions when it is advisable not to treat. These are ear inflammation/infection, grommets in place, perforated eardrum, epilepsy, first trimester of pregnancy

AFTERCARE ADVICE

Swimming should be avoided for at least 24 hours after your treatment
Drink plenty of water to aid lymphatic release.
Avoid strenuous exercise for the rest of the day.
Just after treatment keep ears covered when outside if weather is cold.
